RWC - the Tournament in retrospect August 2nd, 2007
Our powerful team from Rock 'n Roll has returned from Korea and the PTO would lke to exclusively present you the best pictures from the team's trip to sunny Seoul where Orph, Napo, Uter, Impi, birdra, Xiro and Pagan fought at the "Ragnarok World Championship"!
The Team: yet, they are posing in the dressy teamshirts the PTO created for them, but you can already feel the slight tautness regarding the upcoming fights: what do they have to expect from their enemies? Which team are they going to fight against at first? Can the Asian teams stand up against the challengers from other continents?

"Lotteworld" in Seoul, which is the second-largest amusement park in Korea, is the stage for next days' fights. The park as well holds the concurrently proceeding Gravity Festival where Ragnarok Online will be presented amongst others.

A fairy-tale castle as witness for exciting fights: in the interior zone of "Lotteworld", the tournament takes place and 11 teams from different servers all over the world will fight against each other: Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, the USA, Europe, Thailand and Vietnam want to win the Ragnarok World Champion title for themselves.

Pompous: proudly, Gravity welcomed the best eleven guilds. At the opening ceremony, this huge ice sculpture could be seen besides traditional Korean food.

When the teams were introduced, Rock 'n Roll self-confidently stood on stage for Europe. Napo who is holding the flag had been appointed team leader.

It was as well him who pulled the wildcard for Rock 'n Roll at the drawing in the first round. Thus, the team had a great advantage as they could watch the fighting styles of the other teams in their groups before fighting against them, (those were the USA with iRO and Taiwan, the winner of the first RWC tournament 2004), and so they could analyze their strategies.

In the second round, Rock 'n Roll then had to face the favourite Taiwan. In the first match of the best-of-three mode, they had some difficulties: as no Marc Cards were allowed in the tournament, they got frozen and had to cede the first victory.

But Taiwan used a strategy Rock 'n Roll already knew from the fight against Nami no Shoorai in the internal euRO tournament and thus, they could win the palm in the second game. With the support of manifold jubilations from the audience, the team managed to send the favourite Taiwan off the tournament - the team won 2-1 after an extremely exciting third match that lasted 4 minutes.

A photo taken from the screen of the live coverage shows Rock 'n Roll's team setup: a Champion (with some strong asura argument), Sniper (including a Falcon at lightning speed), Paladin (with steel-plated PecoPeco in order to devote the more fragile classes), High Wizard and Priestess (cute appearances, but woe betide those who unerestimate them), Minstrel (Bragi's Poem in order to shorten the cast times was an absolute must-have) and the crucial-for-survival Professor (for permanent distribution of SP and with the mighty Land Protector).

With this setup, Rock 'n Roll had made it to the semi-finals of the tournament! The four remaining teams would fight for the possibility to reach the finals - and thus, for the chance on gaining the title and the opulent prize money.

The location for the semi-finals was an amazing arena as the moderators show on the screen. Honor and glory awaits all four teams that have made it so far. When Rock 'n Roll fought against Thailand, the winner afterwards, they could win the first match, but Thailand was too strong for them in the further fights. In the fight for the 3rd rank against the r bestPhilippines, Rock 'n Roll did their best, but unfortunately they couldn't win.

We, the whole of euRO and the PTO, are definitely proud of our team as they have worthily represented euRO - and they even found an euRO café in the middle of Seoul!

In the end, the team again posed for the photographers - exhausted, but quite content. Their conclusion: many interesting people, Ragnarok merchandise, impressions from Seoul and from the Gravity Festival, an exciting tournament - and the knowledge of being the 4th of the best Ragnarok Online guilds worldwide!

With their slogan and the typical Rock 'n Roll pose, Team Korea bids farewell - see you at the next tournament!
