I have downloaded the client from the web as a zip-file. I have problems unzipping it or I get the "Error 1335 The cabinet file Data.cab required for this install is corrupt".
If Winzip does not work, try something else like Winrar. Be sure to switch off the virus scanner. It might interfere with the decompressing process.

1. Click on "Start" and "Execute". 2. Insert "Open" "msconfig"in the text field, and click "OK". 3. Please click "Extended options" in der register card BOOT.INI. 4. Mark the control /MAXMEM= and enter 256 (respectively enter a smaller number, if your computer has less RAM Memory) . 5. Click "OK", for closing the BOOT.INI dialog "Extended options". 6. Click "Assume" in the dialog "system configuration". 7. Click "OK" for closing the dialog "system configuration". 8. Please restart your computer, when you get the message": "You have to restart your computer". 9. After the restart of your computer, please install Ragnarok. 10. After installation please do step 1 to 8 again but in step 4 unmark the control "/MAXMEM".
After starting the client, the message "attempting to connect to the patch server" was displayed and nothing happened. What does this mean?
Your client is unable to make a connection to one of our patch servers. There may be a number of reasons for this:
- An internet connection may not be established. Make sure that a internet connection using modem, ISDN, Cable, LAN, DSL are anything else.
- The connection to a patch server might be interrupted. Try again, because we provide several patch servers.
- For getting a patch the following ports will be used: Port 80 (http) for Patch Port 21 (ftp) for Patch-Command Ports 48000 and above for patch FTP
Make sure, that your client has access to these ports. If a firewall is used on you computer or in the network that your computer is connected to, these ports should be open for patching.
I get an error message during installation.
Please check if you are running a virus scanner. This might cause problems when you start game installation. Please switch it off during game play.
While downloading the patch I got an error message, that the downloaded patch can not be written on my hard disk?
The space on your installation hard disk might have run out. Check the available space and make sure that enough space is available.
I have trouble getting the latest patch?
One thing you can do is to delete these files in the client folder - patch2.txt - patch.inf - patch_allow.txt
Now the client will load all patches from the start (including the latest one) when it connects to the patch server. Therefore it may take a while.
When I run Ragnarok, it seems like I am almost connected to the server then I get kicked out, before playing!
There are a number of things that could explain this: - Your 3D card may not be compatible with the game. Please download the latest driver for your 3d Card and check if your 3D card corresponds with the game. - The Windows registry may be causing problems, check your computer and see if you're running any program that conflicts with Ragnarok Online files.
I started RO and the patching works fine, but after that I get an "audio system init failed".
Please restart your Computer. The sound system will be initialized.
When I run the game, I get an error message and the game will not start.
This happens when you did not install the most recent version of Direct X or Direct X has not been installed properly on the computer. It goes same for the error message consisted of 'DINPUT8.DLL cannot be found in this machine'. There please reinstall Direct X on your PC.
My password is invalid, but i am sure that is the correct.
Please check the following opportunities - Let you send a new password using the web site ("password forgotten)) - please check, if you really try to connect to euro. You will recognize euro because of the patch-text "Welcome to the european ragnarok". If you try to connect to a different server, please remove this RO version from your computer using the Software function in the systen control of windows. Please get a euro-client.
Will another client will work?
Please use the client for euro. The client of other Ragnarok Versions will not work.
What are lags?
If your character in the game does not move while you are trying to make him move or the movement is choppy it is called a lag time.
I am experiencing some lag. What is the problem?
There may be some reasons for this
- hardware problems for example. At times, lag may be caused by hardware problems and not the server or game itself. Therefore set the sprite and texture in the graphic setup to as low as possible and set the sound to 2D. Also, disable the Lightmap and fog features to help prevent lag.
- Connection problems for example. If your internet connection falters, it might cause lag. Please contact your service provider
- P2P software: If you used P2P or file sharing software just before playing Ragnarok, restart your internet connection to get a new IP Number. The old IP might still get pings from other programs. This slows down you internet connection.
The ground shows white colours only. There seems to be something wrong with the graphics.
It happens when the graphic card cannot support a light-map in Direct X. Please go to setup.exe and use lightmap on/off option.
The screen has turned black. I can't see any graphics.
If your video card's memory capacity is below 8MB, the game cannot be run because of the lack of texture memory. Please use an AGP type graphic card that has 8MB or above capacity.
The background scenes come out as purplish squares!
A problem can happen with old versions of ATI graphic cards. Please go to setup.exe and use light-map on/off option
I use a Voodoo as a 3d card. On certain maps, if I rotate the camera or load to next screen, I get kicked out to windows!
The older versions of the voodoo chipset do not support highly detailed textures. Please go to setup.exe's voodoo3 on/off option. This option will eliminate vanishing polygons in the game.
I would like to get the recent driver for my 3d card!
There are many different types of graphic cards. Please read the manual that came with your card, or use the links on the gravity homepage's download->extra->3d card driver page ABABAB
I got an error "cannot init 3d3". What should i do?
That has something to do with the graphic card.
1. Install the latest driver for you graphic card. 2. Install the latest DirectX Version 3. Go to the Setup of raknarok and try different settings in the Menue point on top 4. Play Ragnarok Online in Full screen.
I can't run the game on a voodoo card.
It seems to be that it is not possible to play the game on older version of the Voodoo chipset. Right now, the compatibility tests with the older versions of the Voodoo chipset are not complete.
My computer is making screenshots during the game play. It is not possible to play.
Please check, if you are using a wireless keyboard, because some keyboards are interfering with Euro. Please use a normal keyboards and quit all programms, which are using the wireless keyboard.
If I turn off the sound, I can run the game. If I turn on the sound, then I can't run the game!
Unlike other company's online MMORPG, Ragnarok has twice the number of pieces of background music in mp3 format. But if the computer's CPU and the sound-card do not meet the requirements for the game, then it is possible that the back ground music might not be executed during the game. If you have an old computer, please turn off the sound, or set to the minimal option (2d sound, sampling rate 8k, 8bit mode) in the option menu
When I walk away from the computer and return after some time, Ragnarok has been disconnected
There may be 2 possible reasons for this problem
First you should not leave computer just before you log into the game, because the server will disconnect you for safety reasons
Another thing is that your screen saver could have interfered with Ragnarok. Please switch off the screen saver.
I have problems to connect to the game server at all. Which ports will be used?
The following ports have to be open in the fire wall
